Capturing Memories: A Family Portrait at Port Stephens
It feels like just yesterday when I had the pleasure of photographing Robert and Diana’s wedding at the stunning Inner Lighthouse in Nelson Bay. Time flies, doesn’t it? Fast forward to October 2024, and I was lucky enough to reconnect with them, this time to capture a special extended family portrait. It’s always an honor when past clients return, and this session was no exception.
Robert had a unique vision for this family shoot—he wanted to honor the time and effort his parents had poured into their beautiful garden during the COVID months. So, before heading to the beach, we started the session at his parents’ home, which was surrounded by lush greenery. It made for the perfect backdrop, adding a personal touch to the photos that was meaningful to the family. There’s something about a well-kept garden that just brings a sense of calm and beauty to the frame.
Next, we made our way to Corlette Beach, a location I always love. The stunning gardens were in full bloom, making it a picturesque setting for more family shots. We even got our feet a little sandy—nothing like the natural, carefree vibe of a beach to add to the fun! Wrapping up our session at the Anchorage rock wall felt like the perfect way to end. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we were treated to a stunning blue hue in the sky—nothing beats sunset at Port Stephens.
This session was a reminder of why I love being a Port Stephens family photographer. The natural beauty of the area, the warm connection between families, and the ability to capture those special moments that will last a lifetime—it’s all such a privilege.
